In My Mailbox- Lauren Rants About UK Soaps

From the Laptop of Lauren: I don't normally do In My Mailbox posts. I know, I know, I say that every single time I make one...but it's true, in case you weren't already aware. However, I do like bragging about some of the fun books I actually buy. Today one of the books I ordered from The Book Depository (which is amazing...FREE SHIPPING PEOPLE!) came in. That would be Hollyoaks: Girl Talk by Lucie Cave. If you know me really really well, you might know that I'm a bit obsessed with the show Hollyoaks. Yes, it's a UK soap and no, I'm not from the UK (oh hail the power of youtube!) I first fell in love with this show a couple years back and followed the story line of John Paul McQueen. Through him, I met his lovely family of ALL GIRLS...as time went on, he left the show and I would pay attention to other people's story lines. I haven't watched it in awhile...one bad thing about characters you fall in love with leaving the show...

That doesn't mean I don't like Hollyoaks and if Youtube stays with me, I'm hoping to go back and follow the story lines of some people I missed. Not the WHOLE storyline of course...I do have some semblance of a life and UK soaps are like US soaps...they air every.day.of.the.week.

Back to the book though...this novel is a collection of photos and interviews with the McQueen girls (yes, the lovely ladies that surrounded my John Paul---minus Tina who died {in the show people!!} and plus a new found McQueen daughter whose story I haven't seen) But besides that, I know most of these ladies and I thought it would be really fun to hear more about the behind-the-scenes of being a girl on the set of Hollyoaks as well as simply being ACTRESSES in a HIT soap.

Okay, I'm done rambling...I'm sure like 99.9 % of you have no idea what I'm talking about so I feel like I should quit boring you. I'm still really excited though. So be excited for me, yes?

Now...fun-tastic giveaways you should all be entering!!

That Youtube is dangerous, isn't it. I don't watch Hollyoaks but it's often mentioned in magazines over here in the UK.

Bermuda: Thanks, I'm sure it will. I eyed a few pages and it looks good.

Thea: I would imagine, apparently it's a pretty big soap for the YA set. But yes, Youtube is a danger sometimes...sucks you in!!!
