Humans are Cool...Duh! (Event Sign-Up)

Humans are Cool...Duh!

I can't be the only one out there who is a bit tired of seeing mostly paranormal/fantasy/etc. books coming out. Yes, I like them just as much as the next person...but some of my most favorite books will always be contemporary. I like your everyday, average human beings going through their regular life. Sure, those lives are usually a bit messed up and very interesting...but they don't have super powers or enemies that are actually evil like you know, Voldemort...

One of my all-time favorite books (and this is actually a hard thing for a book to be) is Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert. It's such a raw, emotional book that shows life as it is: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It's one book I try and recommend as much as I can. It's a book that I think everyone reading this blog should read at some point. Buy it, get it from the library. It doesn't matter. Though I will say buying the book would be amazing as the author deserves more recognition and praise. Show you want these type of books. No, I'm not saying no more paranormal and the like...but who doesn't like more realistic stories too? They can be just as much of an escape as other novels...plus, they have a greater ability to resonate with you.

Right now, on Amazon, you can buy a copy of the book for really cheap so get out those gift cards and holiday cash you recieved last month and buy a book that is worth it, and celebrate an author that deserves it.

If you don't have the money or want to try and win the book before you buy, head over to Misha's blog. She has a wonderful interview with Stephanie as well.

I know some of you have already read the book, and if you loved it as well, go and buy a copy. I bought my own as well and it doesn't take much money.

So enough about my love for Ballads...what about you? What are your thoughts on the novel (whether you read it or not)? What other books make you go "humans are cool, duh" ?

Next month is February and as that is the season of love, I thought it would be fun to really do a Boost for Ballads as it's a book I love. I hope, like Misha, you will join me in celebrating. Re-post (or post for the first time) reviews of Ballads of Suburbia, interview Stephanie or have her do a guest post, host giveaways if you wish (but I'd aim for buying the book if you want to give it away...support, give it more sales!), or even give away other items that make you think of Ballads as that's my plan for the month.

Please...leave a link to your blog in the Mr. Linky below if you plan on doing something to Boost Ballads during the month of February. ALSO: If you have read the book and loved it as well, please email me about another "project" I'm working on. I need people to help me out ASAP...don't worry, it's really not that hard.

Those are my favorite reads. I am fascinated by human relationships and reading about things I can see myself doing or going through.

I'm going to post something soon about this on my blog -- so does this count as signing up? In addition I jfinished it myself and just passed copies along to my book club.
