Red Riding Hood Movie Review
I saw Red Riding Hood this past weekend and I have to say, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It wasn't that it looked bad or anything...I just wasn't sure how I would feel about it. Now I'm glad I saw it though as I really enjoyed the mystery. One of the great things about this film is that you don't know who the wolf is until they are letting you know. Maybe you'll be smart or lucky enough to guess the right person...but I sure didn't and I really did try and figure it out while watching. Sometimes I just sit back and let it be revealed but when I heard it was a good mystery, I tried to think of who it could be...WRONG! It certainly makes a better movie though. You don't really want to know all the answers the whole time, do you?
Amanda Seyfried who played Valerie, or you know Red Riding Hood, did a good job. She certainly has that soft, innocent look about her...but with a touch of a wild side that doesn't seem forced or wrong for her or her character.
Gary Oldman played Solomon who is one conflicted character. He tries to do good, but at the same time, he hurts people and pushes away any guilt he might otherwise feel. You'll definitely find yourself wondering just how to feel about this guy, and that's definitely credit to Oldman. He's always a good "bad guy" even if the character isn't completely bad...like Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films.
All in all, this was a good movie. It's not really something I walked out going "I have to see this again!" but that's partly because the mystery has now been ruined...and that's half the fun of it!
