Live-Blogging the MTV Movie Awards

Live-Blogging the 2012 MTV Movie Awards with Lauren

I've never done a live-blog before, but I figured it could be kind of fun...and I thought I'd try it out. So, if you're reading this before or during the show, share your thoughts as they happen right along with me. If you don't see this until after the show airs, then feel free to comment on what I've written or figure out whether the awards are better off being ignored or watched later during an MTV re-run!

AKA- For those that don't understand what I mean by live-blogging...I will keep updating this post while the awards are on, sharing my thoughts about the things that have just happened. I will also try and include as many photos and fun things as I can, just because I think it makes it more interesting!

this photo is NOT from the MTV Movie Awards...

The pre-show is happening now and Sway just talked to Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) and Elizabeth Banks (Effie) from The Hunger Games. I'm a fan of both of them, so it was cool to see them, just as fun and loveable as ever. Sway read them a fan question, which is basically, "If they were attacked by zombies, who in the cast would they save?" Elizabeth mentioned maybe Woody Harrelson, then said he can save himself as he's been in one of her favorite zombie films (Zombieland! Yes!) So they both ended up saying Jennifer Lawrence, because she means the most for the continuation of the films, and they'd like to be part of saving Katniss. Good answer, you two!

this is the official movie poster, I believe, and I love it!

Oh. My. God. I just saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer. I am so incredibly excited for this film. You have no idea. This is one of my all-time favorite books and the movie looks amazing! I just adore Emma Watsona and Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller (who all were there to present the trailer) and Emma Watson said Ryan Gosling is hot in an american accent...she was told to do so, but I like to think she actually thinks he's hot, as I do. :) If you haven't read it yet, check out my interview with Perks author and director of the film version, Stephen Chbosky.

The band fun.

The band fun. are now performing their hit song "We are Young" and doing an amazing job, I must say. They are pretty good live. I think I'd enjoy seeing them in concert. By the way, this is the official beginning of the MTV Movie Awards, which is a bit different from previous years...I like starting it off with a fun song.

Award show host, Russell Brand

I do actually like Brand. I'm not a fan of everything he's ever done or said, but in general, I tend to find him amusing. His opening monologue poked fun at himself, while making fun of others...essentially, he made fun of others (for example...Kim Kardashian's short marriage) and then pointed out that he's being a hyprocrite. Always good to laugh at yourself when you're a celebrity. He's off to a not-so-bad we'll what happens next. At any rate, I'm excited for Brand's upcoming project, Rock of Ages(great musical!!)

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield
Cutest. Couple. Ever.
'Nuff said really.
They presented the Best Breakout Star award. And will star in Spiderman together this summer.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark

Best Male Performance went to Josh Hutcherson (who got the award from Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Ezra Miller...four amazing people on one stage!) and Best Female Performance went to Jennifer Lawrence (who wasn't there but had a thank you video, where she ended by sadly saying she can't eat the golden popcorn award). The Hunger Games is reigning supreme so far!

Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson won Best Kiss again. I really wanted it to be Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Ah, well...

Johnny Depp just won the Generation Award. Absolutely amazing. He's one of my favorite actors and a great candidate fo this award. If you've seen the show before, you know they show a collection of clips from the work of the winner...and it was great to see a variety of thins that Johnny has done, all mashed together. I especially liked seeing clips from the film Cry Baby (great's like a mock 50s musical). At any rate, after that, Johnny came out to play guitar with band, The Black Keys, which was a total surprise and pretty dang rockin'! Johnny talked a bit after this, saying thanks for the award and giving my favorite line, "based on the clips, there is obviously something wrong with me." Maybe so, Johnny, but all of your fans have 'something wrong' with them too! Then he began to play with the band again, leading into commercial break. Again...amazing moment. Worth watching just for this!

There was just a video of Joel McHale playing a Hollywood archery teacher. Pretty funny stuff. Apparently, archery is dangerous...why would he ever hold a bow and arrow? This video also included J.J. Abrams (who would not work with him) and Jennifer Lawrence (who was taught archery by him) and it was pretty amusing, I gotta say! I just love Jennifer, though, so her bits had me laughing...especially her fake british accent at the end. Look it up!

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton were all (collectively) nominated for Best Cast and they WON! I'm so excited for them. The HP films have come to a close, and I really wanted them to win something, so this is the perfect award. It was a group effort and Best Cast clearly shows that. Oh, and on twitter, they were voting for Best Hero...Harry Potter also won, beating out Katniss Everdeen, among others. Go TeamPotter!

I have a total girl crush on Emma Stone...and right now, I'm crushing even more. She just won the first-ever Trailblazer award and gave an incredibly sweet speech about being yourself, being unique, and not being afraid to be different. She even named a bunch of people that have inspired her, but stated that she isn't taking their path...but seeing them be themselves makes her want to be herself more. Beautiful, huh?! It brought a bit of tears to my eyes! And in case you're curious, some of the people she named were Charlie Chaplin, Bill Murray, and J.D. Salinger. I love Emma...and I've seen a bunch of her films and will continue to do so. She's a great actress. If you haven't already, go see: The Help, Zombieland, Easy A, and Crazy, Stupid, Love (and more!) And because she's a great comedic actress, there was a video of actors and actresses preceding her coming on to the stage where they all talked about how great (and not so great) she was in a too-serious manner. It's hilarious. Look it up as well!

And in conclusion, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 won best movie. I'm glad Twilight didn't overtake the whole awards, like they normally do, so I'm quite fine with them winning best movie. It was a pretty nice mix of The Hunger Games, Twilight, and even Harry Potter.

Overall, I think this was a good awards show. I hope you enjoyed my write-up, even if you weren't following along as I posted. If you don't watch the whole awards, I do recommend looking at Youtube this week to find some of the funnier moments, as well as Emma Stone and Johnny Depp's awards!
