My Book Boyfriend (1) - Varen Nethers

Missie from The Unread Reader has a fun meme called My Book Boyfriend where she shares some quotes and information about a fictional boy and then includes at least one picture of an actor that she feels represents the character. I decided I would give it a shot this week with a character from a book I'm currently reading and loving (look for a review soon)!

-Lauren
Varen Nethers from Nevermore by Kelly Creagh

*long, black hair
*green eyes
*wears pretty much just black with chains, etc.
*has a lip ring
*likes to wear sunglasses a lot

"Do I get stuck playing the dead chick?"
It was supposed to be a joke, something to help smooth down his prickly defense.
"You could never be Lenore," he said, returning to his scrawling.
At this, Isobel scoffed outright, trying to decide if she'd been insulted. "Yeah? Why not?"
"For one," he said, jotting along, "you're not dead."

"Well, as rousing as that sounds," he said, "I was still at the bookshop an hour after you left. I should also let you know, by the way, that I pawned my invisibility cloak last week. You might want to check with the shop to see if someone bought it."
 - page 133
He shook his head. "You shouldn't have come."
"Stop saying that." She gripped his jacket, her fingers clutching. "You asked me to come, remember?"
"That was a mistake."

I also included some fun quotes from Nevemore that will hopefully show you a bit more about this amusing, frustrating character.

And finally...Varen Nethers is being played by actor Ezra Miller today, who will be starring as Patrick this September in The Perks of Being a Wallflower!

Ohh boy good pick and the actor definitely fits the snarky quotes. I have had this book in my TBR forever and I am even more eager to check it out now.

I've never read Nevermore, but I want to. Varen Nethers certainly sounds like a cool love interest.

I haven't read this book, but I'm intrigued. Varen sounds like perfect for your first MBB. Great pics and quotes!

Lauren, it's so fun to see you playing along with us. Thank you.

I have yet to read Nevermore, but Varen is a popular choice for MBB, so that tells me a lot about him. I already love his humor.

VAREN!! <3 Ohmygoodness, I love this boy and this series and this author so much! I read Nevermore so long ago that you'd think I'd forget about this boy, but Varen's just one that sticks to you because of how different he is -- he's definitely the brooding silent type :') I'm so happy that you're loving him too! You're just in time to read this for Enshadowed to release in August!

Love your BB pick for this week, Lauren! Who knew a gothic boy could be so awesome, right? :') <3

I LOVE Varen! I loved his reasons for being gothic like when Isobel finds out he was really blonde! LOL I'm so excited for Enshadowed!

I haven't read Nevermore, but Varen sounds and looks hot!

Oh no! I feel out of touch. I've never read it and I have no idea who the actor is! Le sigh :)

Oh Lauren!! I LOVED Nevermore sooo much, I've read it like three times. I love it when opposites are thrown together against their will and then are attracted to each other. Varen was so intense and swoon-worthy! You just know he has to be a good kisser (yes, I know, fictional character here). Anyways, great pick. :)

I LOVE your guy! He sounds like the right amount of swoon worthy awesomeness! I haven't read this one yet, but I definitely am now - thank you so much for sharing him! Have a great weekend! :)

Nice! It's always fun to see how other people picture their book boyfriends and why these particular guys stand out. I love how the lines you picked for Varen really show his character! Serena http://www.edgyinspirationalromance.com

Everything I hear about this guy sounds great. I really want to read the series, but it takes so long between each book. Hopefully she'll finish the series soon so I can start it :)

OMG! This is so awesome! While reading Nevermore back in April I was thinking of Ezra Miller. I just love that there is another person out there who pictured Ezra as Varen.
