Review: Dear Luke, We Need to Talk, Darth

Dear Luke, We Need to Talk, Darth: And Other Pop Culture Correspondences by John Moe

Review by Lauren

source: won a copy; all opinions are my own

Official Summary: We all know how Darth Vader shared his big secret with Luke Skywalker, but what if he had delivered the news in a handwritten note instead? And what if someone found that letter, as well as all of the drafts that landed in the Dark Lord’s trash can? In the riotously funny collection Dear Luke, We Need to Talk. Darth, John Moe finally reveals these lost notes alongside all the imagined letters, e-mails, text messages, and other correspondences your favorite pop culture icons never meant for you to see.

Review: This book is hilarious. I don't always find humor or pop culture books/jokes all that funny, but almost everything in this book had me laughing. This is a book that is easy to pick up here and there and just enjoy. You can bring it along for quick moments of reading when waiting in an office or on a school or work break. It's also a book that you are surely going to want to share with others.

Some things included in this book are a letter to the Grinch from his old dog Max, a teacher writing to the "parents" of the Peanuts gang (who she never sees), all of Jay-Z's 99 problems, and much more.

I knew some of the references more than others, but for the most part, I could follow these correspondences well enough. This is a great book for all genders and especially for those that don't read a lot!

it's always great when you have some good references in a book! Knowing it's a fun one is a good point too! I didn't know about this one though I confess. thanks for the review!

Oh, I really want to read this now! I've put myself of a book buying ban for awhile, but I'm adding it to the list!

That cover alone made me giggle, so I'm not at all surprised that the story itself had you in stitches. I love it when an author kills it in the pop culture references department, and I do believe John Moe did precisely that.

I've been looking for a lot of fun ones since I went through a few back in November. Glad you can still follow it even if you don't know all the pop culture references (because I wouldn't). Sounds like a fun quick read! :)

Heehee, what a cute idea! I have to imagine that a lot of these correspondences would go over my head because I live under a rock most of the time, but it's maybe something that I would try from my library!
