It's about time that I start doing more discussion posts on the blog, so today I'm talking about Comment Jumping! Please use the below image to pin this post!
One of the things that I always do is visit a blog if they comment on mine. I know not everyone who comments has a blog, but the majority do, so I find this to be a good way to say "thanks" and to hopefully make some new bloggy friends. Therefore, you comment on one of my posts, and I visit your blog and read/comment on one of your posts. This tends to turn into a back and forth type of thing, and I love it. I get to know new bloggers, and I know that if they don't comment for a bit it's because they are busy. This doesn't stop me from reading and commenting on their blog. Anyway - back to the topic at hand!
While visiting these blogs - and other blogs that I happen to come across - I often check out who else is commenting on their post. Sometimes I read what people are saying, but other times I just click their name and check out their blog (if they have one). This can be random, or maybe I liked their blog name or I saw their comment and thought it was nice. At any rate, I am now on their blog and checking out their posts. Sometimes I don't find much that interests me, but a lot of times I'll discover a really cool blog and I'll try and leave at least one comment for them.
This act of finding a blog via someone else's blog comments (or even through their blog roll) is what I call Comment Jumping. It's a great way to discover new blogs/bloggers! This is just one of the reasons I have a blog roll on the side of my blog. I want people to discover these blogs too! Sometimes I'll be commenting on a blog I regularly follow and I'll see someone who comments on my blog and I'll wonder "I don't remember seeing them here before...did they discover this blog from mine?" If you did, then I'm here to tell you that you're comment jumping, and it's one type of jumping I can totally get behind!
So tell me - do you comment jump? If you miraculously remember, which blogs have you discovered from my blog roll/comment section? I'm sure we'd both love to know! It's just another good reason to get out there and comment on people's posts! It helps them - plus it's nice - AND it can help you!
I definitely comment jump, but only when I have the time to. Usually I'm so pressed for time that I just comment on the blogs I typically visit, but I enjoy comment jumping occasionally and discovering new blogging friends. :)

ReplyDeleteI do! It's what I do if I'm done with my commentors' blogs. I check out people who comment twice or thrice on posts on some blogs. I love doing it especially if I find some really good stuff on their blogs.
ReplyDeleteI used to comment jump a lot, and then those people would start to comment back, and suddenly we were all commenting on each other's blogs quite regularly! Nowadays I feel like I have amassed so many blogs to comment on, so I haven't done a ton of comment jumping (though I do a lot of commenting). I've net some great bloggers and blogs through comment jumping!
